What 365 Days of Make-up Looks Like

A lot of my fellow beauty blogs have been doing a 365 Days of Make-up special post on their sites for every day of the year.  It’s a challenge sort of thing.  I decided I might want to participate, but I know I am too lazy to wear make-up every single day (and honestly, am more concerned with caring for my skin than covering up the flaws) - so I just decided to google it and check out others’ stuff to see if I could draw the inspiration to go through with it.

And what I found was awesome!

The video above is a special for Nowness by Lernert & Sander in which model Hannelore Knuts goes from a natural look to what 365 days of make-up looks like…none stop!  It makes you realize how much shit goes on your face for a year and it is FAR from pretty.

The video took over 9 hours of non-stop application to shoot and merely took seven bottles of Foundation S103; two bottles of Creamy Eyes E107; three Milky Lips L205 pens; and two bottles of Blush S301. All together 228.40ml of makeup.   Barely nothing, huh?  LOL

This video is genius and encourages me to use the least amount of make-up possible.  A girl should NEVER have to depend solely on beauty products to actually look and feel beautiful.

New Essie Promo Video!

I love this! Essie nailpolish is one of my favorites. They got super creative on this promo!

YouTube user DiamondsAndHeels14 has to be one of the bravest girls I’ve seen on there.  I would say I was a bit brave when I posted a video about my cystic acne and included a “before” photo in it, but nothing comparing to the bravery this girl displays in hers.  She goes absolutely bare and shows us how bad her skin is under the make-up.  I take my hat off.

More girls than you can probably imagine hide something like this under their make-up each day.  For some it may not be as bad, for others it may be worse.  But honestly, we all have had insecurities with our faces at some point or the other.  Whether it’s acne, discoloration, oilyness or dryness, redness or uneven skin tone - we all probably have some insecurities in common.

People have actually made fun of me in the past for struggling with acne.  Even now, at 28 years of age, I’ve had certain point out my problem skin as a jab because they are mad at me and have nothing better to point out.  All I can do is feel bad for those people as I shake my head, because acne isn’t a problem one can help.  If I could help it, I wouldn’t have it.  This is a more severe example, but it’s like making fun of a paraplegic person because they can’t walk.  Do you think they want that for themselves?  Probably not.  But alas, no matter what age you are - you will always encounter an ignorant fuck or two that will say something insensitive about something you have absolutely no control over.

For the young girls and adult women out there struggling with acne: you’re not alone.  DiamondsAndHeels14 is beautiful.  Even under those impurities her face has developed for whatever reasons!  Her eyes are gorgeous! :)  Just like her, all of us who struggle with this thing that still has no real cure also have something beautiful about us.  Go look in the mirror, bare faced, and try to see something you love about your face.  It might be hard, but it’s there.  I promise.

For me, it has to be my eyes, eyebrows and my nose :)  It’s always been like a button and most people point out how “adorable” it is, lol.  I love my eyes’ shape because they give me an exotic mixed look (most people think I’m mixed with Asian), and my eyebrows are just the right shape for me.  Not too thin, not too thick.  Just right.

What beauty do you see in yourself when you look in the mirror?
